Queen Elizabeth National Park made for you

In a converted old coffee processing plant sitting in a green hillside, Kyambura Gorge Lodge is an eclectic base for an adventurous safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Ishasha Wilderness Camp is situated inside the Southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the Ntungwe river, and is an idyllic retreat for people who truly enjoy the wilderness. This exclusive camp offers quality accommodation and services in this unspoilt remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park which is famous for its tree-climbing lions that can sometimes be spotted resting in the branches of the area’s large fig trees. Each of the ten spacious framed canvas rooms, situated in the wooded area besides the river, is comfortably furnished. Decorated with large mosquito netted beds, they all come with their own private en-suite bathroom and dressing area, providing running water, hot water ‘bush’ showers and a flushing eco-friendly toilet. There’s no better way to end a day here than under the trees next to the river, where you can enjoy freshly prepared meals which utilise many local ingredients, as well as relax around the evening ‘fireplace’ for sundowners and a chance to share the day’s experience. As the camp is within the national park, it has been designed with as little impact as possible, with low usage of water, power and other resources. Solar power is used for lighting, with power points limited to a central area allocated for recharging cameras and videos.

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is situated in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which is home to a population of somewhat 330 mountain gorillas (gorilla beringei). This is roughly half of the world’s total population! Interestingly, Bwindi is the only forest in Africa where chimpanzees and mountain gorillas co-exist – well worth the time and energy it takes to get here. The lodge comprises of eight stone bedrooms with two of these being double-roomed family units for families or couples traveling together. The main building, with reception, dining, shop and bar area, has six fireplaces to keep it cozy throughout the day. Views from the main balcony area stretch across to Rwanda and the Virungas as well as all the way across the border towards Goma in the Congo – absolutely magnificent! Each room has its own cosy fireplace which is just what you need following a long day tracking the gorillas. They each have all the necessary comforts required to make you feel like this is a second home. The main lodge offers soft and plush finishes with turned wood, and commissioned artwork from Ugandan artists adorn the walls throughout.
