Luxury Honeymoons in the Indian Subcontinent made for you

Palaces, Indian Ocean beaches and exceptional views paired with handpicked stays

Palaces, peaks and Indian Ocean shores

The Indian Subcontinent is an extraordinary honeymoon setting. Expect opulent Raj-era palaces, Himalayan landscapes and private villas over clear Indian Ocean waters

Across the region, your honeymoon can take many different routes. In India, watch the Taj Mahal at sunrise, spend time around Udaipur’s lakes and head into Ranthambore early in the morning for a better chance of spotting tigers.

Sri Lanka works beautifully if you want variety. You can travel through tea country, visit ancient temples and national parks, then end by the beach, all on one island. Nepal brings Kathmandu’s temples, Himalayan views and time in Chitwan’s wildlife-rich lowlands.

Bhutan is all quiet valleys, cliffside monasteries and mountain scenery. You can learn more about its Buddhist culture through temples, local guides and, where possible, time with monks or nuns.

Any of these destinations can be combined with the Maldives. Think coral atolls, overwater villas and reef snorkelling for a properly relaxing beach finish. Start planning your Indian Subcontinent honeymoon by speaking with one of our destination specialists.

Highlights

Watch the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when the marble shifts colour in the early morning light

Hike to Bhutan’s Tiger’s Nest Monastery, following forested trails to the cliffside temple above Paro

End a day in the Maldives with a candlelit seafood dinner on the beach

Head into Ranthambore on an early morning safari, keeping watch for tigers in the forest

Walk through Sri Lanka’s Tea Country, learning how tea is grown and made on a working estate before an intimate tasting in the hills

What I love about honeymoons in the Indian subcontinent is how much you can learn about the region’s cultures in intimate, private settings. You might speak with local guides, families, monks or spiritual practitioners. And the properties are stunning. Expect palace hotels, mountain retreats and overwater villas where reef snorkelling is right on your doorstep.

When to visit the Indian Subcontinent

The best time to visit the Indian subcontinent is generally between October and April, especially if you want to combine India or Sri Lanka with the Maldives. The sea is calm and clear, great for snorkelling and diving.

When adding the Himalayas into the trip, timing becomes more specific. Nepal is excellent from September to November for clear mountain views. And the same goes for Bhutan, although March to May is especially good for hiking, festivals and Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
