Days 1–4
Three days exploring Mountain Pine Ridge
Set in the hills a short drive from the Cayo area, Mountain Pine Ridge is a protected area of Caribbean Pine forest at one of the highest elevations in the country. Staying at the wonderful Blancaneaux – owned by Francis Ford Coppola – this Balinese-styled lodge’s riverside location is the perfect place from which to explore the surrounding area and enjoy adventure activities including hiking and mountain biking, as well as birdwatching and trips to Mayan sites.

A day exploring the Actun Tunichil Mukna caves
Your guide and instructor will collect you from your hotel and drive you to the Actun Tunichil Mukna caves for a full day’s exploration, including a picnic lunch.
Caracol and Rio Frio Cave Tour
The beautiful Maya site of Caracol is the largest archeological site in Belize, originally covering an area much larger than present-day Belize City and supported more than twice the modern city’s population. Amidst the jungle, explore plazas, an astronomic observatory and some of the thousands of buildings that have been identified to date with a private guide. The loftiest among them, a massive pyramid named Caana, is capped by three temples and rises over 42m (140 feet) above the jungle floor. On the way back to the hotel, there is an optional stop at Rio On Pools and Rio Frio Caves.
Days 4–8
Four days of relaxation in Ambergris Caye
Next, fly out to Ambergris Caye, Belize’s largest island, sitting atop the Belize Barrier Reef. The reef makes for truly excellent snorkelling and scuba diving, and the island itself has a charmingly laid-back island vibe.
You’ll stay at the elegant Victoria House, a beautiful beachfront property set just outside the main town, for four blissful days at leisure enjoying calm Caribbean beaches and warm tropical waters. Spend your days here soaking up the sun, swimming, snorkelling and diving.
A private boat cruise to Mexico Rocks
Take a boat up the coast from Ambergris Caye to Mexico Rocks where an beautiful collection of Star, Elk Horn Coral, and Staghorn corals are colonised by lobsters, rays, eels and colourful juvenile fish. Shallow and protected by the barrier reef from ocean swells, this site is great for novice snorkellers with excellent visibility. Lunch is will be a wonderful BBQ cooked up on the beach.
