Colorful colonial city

Valladolid was founded by invading Spaniards in 1543 and was named after the Spanish capital at the time.

Yucutan’s third largest city is filled with pretty pastel coloured colonial buildings, its quiet streets perfect for strolling.

The city is laid out on a grid, at the centre of which is the main plaza. Spend some time exploring the churches and cathedrals, as well as the cenote Zaci. Mexico is famous for its cenotes and this is a great place to relax amongst the poplars, ferns and orchids that surround the freshwater pool.
