Torres del Paine, Chile

Kau Rio Serrano

Traditional style lodge in Chilean Patagonia
Bedroom at Kau Rio Serrano lodge with a view of mountains of Patagonia outside.

A cosy Patagonian lodge with views of Paine Massif

Located at the southern entrance to Torres Del Paine, Chile, Kau Rio Serrano places you in the perfect spot to experience the very best of Patagonia. Each of the ten rooms enjoys spectacular views of the imposing Paine Massif or of Mount Balmaceda and Villa Serrano.

Surrounded by lakes, mountains and pristine landscapes, the lodge is styled around a traditional local Magallanes estancia-type building. Rooms have timber-clad walls and wooden floors, while large floor-to-ceiling windows keep them light and bright. One of our favourite spots is the open-plan lounge, a lovely place to settle down with a hot drink or something from the bar. It is equally inviting for reading a book from the library beside the crackling fire.

Some of Torres del Paine’s best-known sights are close by, including Grey Glacier, Laguna Amarga and Salto Chico. The lodge is also an ideal base for exploring deeper into Torres del Paine National Park.

After a hike, you can return to typical Chilean Patagonian dishes made with local produce such as guanaco, mushrooms and trout. Snacks and light meals can be taken in the lounge or, when the weather suits, on the outside terrace.
