Spain luxury travel at its finest; remarkable architecture and distinctive regional dishes

Spain is one of Europe’s largest and most diverse countries. A place where history and architecture combine to form grand cities. And, where varied landscapes and spectacular coastlines shape strong tradition and distinctive culinary culture.

On your adventure in Spain you can feast on paella in Valencia and dine on tapas during warm summer evenings in Malaga. In Andalusia, where silver leaves glimmer across sun-baked hillsides, you’ll meet with local farmers to sample the finest olive oils, drizzled over warm mollete (traditional bread). We also recommend visits to the north, to devour fresh Atlantic seafood in one of San Sebastián’s Michelin-starred restaurants.

Spend time understanding Spain’s ancient wine culture, which is deeply intertwined with everyday social life. Wander vineyards in La Rioja, sipping on red wines that burst with cherry, plum and vanilla flavours. Experience exclusive wine tastings in Duero Valley at a luxurious, world-renowned winery as a wine educator explains state of the art technologies that work alongside traditional winemaking techniques.

Explore architecture and history in Spain’s cities with historians and academics as your guides. In Granada and Seville, learn about Moorish and Mudéjar styles, with the Alhambra and the Royal Alcázar among Spain’s most distinctive landmarks. And in Barcelona, during an exclusive after-hours tour of Gaudi’s La Pedrera you will be able to appreciate the organic forms, structural innovation and detailed craftsmanship inspired by nature.

The Mediterranean coast is where you’ll find Spain’s warmest waters and most sheltered bays. One of our favourite ways to experience the Mediterranean in Spain is during a sunrise sailing experience around Mallorca and Formentor, followed by an afternoon exploring Palma’s historic centre with your private guide. We recommend visiting in June or September, when the sea is usually at its calmest and the experience feels especially peaceful.

Contact our team of Spain specialists who are experienced in crafting personalised luxury travel to Spain. They will curate adventures that take in the unmissable landmarks while adding their first-hand insights and recommendations for lesser-known experiences.

Highlights

Step inside Moorish palaces, courtyards and intricate tilework in Seville and Granada

Learn how to cook Basque pintxos in San Sebastián’s private gastronomic society kitchen

Take a private yacht charter along Mallorca’s coastline watching the sunset with simple pa amb oli (bread with tomato and oil) and a crisp glass of Mallorca’s Moll wine

Hike the Bay of Biscay coastline in Asturias with your private guide, pausing for a gourmet picnic of local cheese and cider

Ascend the Sagrada Família’s towers outside busy hours for a quieter experience of Gaudí’s Barcelona masterpiece

Spain is full of something new to discover at every turn. I love how you can spend one day wrapped up in world-class art and bold architecture, then the next lingering over tapas and delicious Spanish dishes.

When to visit Spain

Summer in Spain runs from June to August and is very hot, especially in southern Spain and in cities like Madrid and Barcelona. Visiting just before or after summer, particularly in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), is preferable. At this time temperatures drop a little, making it more comfortable for sightseeing.

In the north, summer temperatures range from around 20°C to 26°C (68°F–79°F), which is great for beach time and mountain activities like hiking.
