A fascinating past meets coastal charm

Normandy, with its profound history and magnificent scenery is one of northern France‘s most compelling destinations. Allow us to design a seamless, luxury Normandy tour for you, curating every detail of your unique discovery of this powerful and beautiful region.

Here the dark green rural interior, dotted with medieval spires, gives way to chalk cliffs, infamous beaches and the English Channel. While it at first might seem an unassuming corner of the country, Normandy has played an integral role in Europe’s tumultuous history.

With such a fascinating past, you’ll find the region home to some of France’s best museums and romantic old towns, such as the picture-perfect Mont-Saint-Michel, a medieval island monastery that is a must see. The ominous remnants of the Second World War and stirring cemeteries that memorialise the sacrifices made here are solemn sites of pilgrimage that are, for many, the primary reason for visiting.

The rest of the coastline is dotted with a smattering of charming fishing towns such as Honfleur (and some wonderful seafood best paired with local cider) and scenic walks, while inland you’ll find the gardens of Monet at Giverny and, in Rouen, the incredible cathedral that inspired the artist to paint 30 canvases of it.

Contact us to arrange your deeply insightful tour of this powerful French region and uncover the pivotal moments of history that shaped Normandy.

Highlights

Beginning in Arromanches, spend a day exploring the D-Day landing beaches and delving into the events that played out along the coastline, with stops at Omaha Beach, Colleville-sur-Mer and the dramatic Pointe du Hoc

Enjoy an engaging tour of the medieval island monastery of Mont-Saint-Michel, explore the beautiful abbey and listen to your guide’s retelling of the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s history and the legends surrounding it

Allow yourself to be charmed by the beauty of Monet’s paintings and his incredible garden in Giverny and feel as though you’ve stepped right into one of his watercolours

A large amount of Normandy's allure lies in its historic importance, most notably the iconic D-Day beaches. But beyond its WWII history, the region offers a picturesque escape full of quaint villages, culinary delights and beautiful coastal views.

When to visit Normandy

The best months to visit this part of France are from April to October (late spring to early autumn). This is when you’ll experience milder weather and longer days for exploring. To avoid some of the crowds, but still benefit from pleasant weather, aim for May, September or October. The summer months of July and August are when most of the locals take their holidays, so you’ll find it busier, but there is great weather and many festivals to fill your days.
