Quiet island perfection

A far cry from the quickly developing Phuket, yet only a one-hour boat ride away, Koh Yao Noi is considered one of the last unspoiled islands in the south of Thailand, offering a peaceful and enviable Thai beach experience.

Sitting in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, this laid-back haven is encircled by secluded beaches giving way to rice paddies, while the lush interior of rubber plantations and mangroves can be explored on motorbikes and tuk-tuks.

Unlike some Thai islands – and for many this will be welcome relief – you won’t find a roaring nightlife or a notable shopping scene here; instead, look out for buffaloes taking mud baths, go snorkelling around the vibrant coral reefs, and simply soak up the serene atmosphere.

Highlights

Take a picturesque long-tail boat tour to Krabi, where you are free to snorkel and discover the striking marine life.

Explore Pa Koh, meaning ‘forest of islands’ in Thai, and its lagoons and beaches by luxurious long tail boat.

Boat to a quiet island where your personal chef will prepare a delectable dinner for you to enjoy at sunset under the stars.

Enjoy a quiet experience on the golden shores of Koh Yao Noi. Tucked into the lush embrace of the island’s jungle, Six Senses Yao Noi – a member of the Positive Impact Collection – offers a stay that feels like a gentle exhale. Wake to birdsong and the whisper of palms, as your personal butler anticipates every desire.

When to visit

The best time to visit Thailand is during the country’s dry season. For most parts of the country, this would be between November and March, extending into April and May for some regions. Thailand is characterised by the rainy, hot and cool seasons. The north is less humid and experiences the greatest range of temperatures with cold nights during the cool season. The temperatures are more consistent in southern Thailand but the Andaman coast is hit hardest during the rainy season (October to December).
