History

Visit the Killing Fields

Uncover the 'Pearl of Asia'

Considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Southeast Asia, Phnom Penh earned itself the title the ‘Pearl of Asia’ in the 1920s. The French colonial part of the city and its mix of architecture for example is a delight to explore.

Also known for its excellent shopping opportunities, Psar Toul Tom Poung market is a firm favourite with visitors to the city. The intricate and imposing Grand Palace with its immaculate and vibrant gardens are perfect to spend a morning exploring, while the French-Khmer cuisine offered, from street stalls to fine dining is certainly one cultural element you should savour.

Whilst in Phnom Penh a private and sensitive tour to both the sobering Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields will give you an insight into the atrocities the people of this country suffered in the 1970s at the hands of the Khmer Rouge regime. Visit the prison where they tortured, killed and filled mass graves with over 1.3 million people. Pay homage to this defining part of Cambodia’s history before exploring how the city is rebuilding itself and developing.

Made famous by its proximity to the legendary Temple of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap offers a step into the crumbling world of the lost Khmer Empire. Whilst Siem Reap has its charms, the showpiece is naturally Angkor. Encircled by tropical forest, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is adorned with grand lotus towers and ornate carvings and reigns as the largest religious monument in the World.
