Days 1–2

Arriving in Nairobi

You’ll be met on arrival at Nairobi airport before spending a relaxing night in the city after your flight. Your safari adventure begins in the morning.

Hemingways Nairobi

Set between the Ngong Hills and Jamhuri Park, the Hemingways Nairobi is a boutique hotel far removed from the bustle of the capital. Expect excellent service and delicious food in this all-inclusive establishment. Choose from one of 45 lofty rooms furnished in a classic style; vaulted ceilings and balconies are complemented by exposed timber, cotton drapes and neutral tones. The two, 240 square metre themed-suites improve upon this with well-appointed living rooms, study and dining areas, opening to large terraces. All rooms have views either of the rolling hotel lawns or the Ngong hills in the distance. Dining at The Brasserie, you can enjoy a contemporary European menu boasting some of the best steak in Kenya and a relaxed ambiance. Head to The Dining Room for a more formal atmosphere and modern cuisine of local providence.

Days 2–6

On safari in the Mara Conservancies

You’ll spend four nights in the Mara Conservancies, a protected area set up in conjunction with the local Maasai communities. The Conservancies share an unfenced border with the Maasai Mara National Park so you’ll enjoy the same game-viewing opportunities with a more exclusive feel. Your days will be filled with morning and afternoon game drives and there are options for guided bush walks as well, to expose you to even the tiniest inhabitants of the park. You’ll be staying in a luxury lodge so when you’re not out exploring, relax in style and simply enjoy your magical surroundings.

These conservancies are managed according to a model that protects the delicate ecosystem and benefits the landowners themselves – the Maasai people.

Towering high on the Rift Valley’s Oloololo Escarpment with direct and private access to the Mara Triangle, this lodge's name was inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. It's not only its location that makes it stand out, but also its commitment to education, health and conservation in the region.

Mara Plains Camp

Just north of the Maasai Mara Reserve, in the 30,000 acre private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, this Relais & Châteaux camp offers you outstanding game experiences without the restrictions that the reserve itself imposes on other lodges. Each guest’s stay helps to contribute to various conservation and community projects. This conservancy adds a huge plus factor due to the privacy and minimal vehicle traffic within it. You can easily access the Maasai Mara Reserve, but the game in the conservation area is just as excellent. Leopard are regularly spotted passing through the camp and lions can often be heard in the distance. Stroll along walkways that wind their way through the forest between the tented suites that are built on high stilts offering you stunning views onto the Ntiakitiak Riverr or across the Mara plains. Each suite has deep canvas canopied ceilings, rough-hewn wood floors and accents of East Africa’s rich safari history. Expect thick Lamu wood doors, deep purples, and brass accents. The raised library looks down onto hippos wallowing in the river, while the wine cellar is the perfect place to unwind and sample a selection of excellent South African and French wines. You can also choose to enjoy a private dining experience here. A highlight of the camp is the family suite, the Mara Plains Jahazi Suite, which is an exclusive-use, two-bedroom tented villa with its own team of dedicated staff. The game drive vehicles are all completely open which helps you get some phenomenal photographs. In addition to the game, you mustn’t forget that you also have a community nearby that you can visit and witness a genuine working village. A truly marvellous experience.

Mara Conservancies

Bateleur Camp

Situated in the Kichwa Tembo Private Concession, which neighbours the Masai Mara, this lovely camp offers world-class accommodation in the African bush. Situated below the location where Out of Africa’s famous final scene was filmed, this romantic and totally private camp reflects the ambiance of Kenyan safaris of the ’20s and ’30s. Bateleur is split into two intimate camps of nine tented suites each, set among the forests on the edge of the Masai Mara. The tented suites have a classic elegance with polished wooden floors and en suite bathrooms with stone-walled showers. Each tent has its own deck overlooking the vast game-filled plains of the Masai Mara, and a personal butler will ensure every need is catered for. Beautiful antiques adorn the comfortable sitting and indoor/outdoor dining areas, transporting guests back to the heyday of classic safaris. Delicious Pan African meals are served in memorable settings under the stars, followed by fireside port and cigars. Bush breakfasts and romantic sundowners on the edge of the Great Rift Valley offer an unforgettable African experience.

One night in Nairobi

You’ll spend one night back in Kenya’s busy and enthralling capital before departing for the Seychelles.

Days 7–13

Island bliss in the Seychelles

It’s time for some rest and relaxation in the Seychelles – the white, palm-fringed beaches and turquoise waters make this one of the world’s most beautiful island destinations. Explore the beaches, swim and snorkel in the Indian Ocean, hike the mountain trails or simply unwind at your luxury villa. You could also familiarise yourself with island life on boat tours, or learn about the protection of the islands’ Aldabra giant tortoise.

Praslin Island

Suspended in the hillside above Takamaka Bay with views over the Indian Ocean to the Curieuse reserve islands, Raffles is easily the most luxurious place to stay on Praslin. Its 86 villas give you lavish modern comfort, a private plunge pool and a 24-hour concierge service. What’s more the hotel is but a stone’s throw from one of the world’s most beautiful beaches; Anse Takamaka. Each modern villa has an open-air balcony overlooking the gardens and sea. As well as your private plunge pool there are two infinity pools for afternoon lounging. The resort is well known for its sumptuous spa, with treatment rooms overlooking the tropical bush and crystal blue ocean. In the evenings there are six restaurants to choose from, a shisha lounge or private dinners can be arranged on the beach. A fifteen-minute ferry will take you to Curieuse Island, a diving and snorkelling paradise that is home to 500 giant tortoises.
