The main reason people check in to the Fancourt Hotel is to try out The Links, one of the world’s best golf courses, designed to mirror the original links courses of Scotland and Ireland.

There are two other Gary Player-designed courses at the Fancourt, aside from The Links, and both are in the top twenty of South African courses; Montagu is extremely well conditioned, and neighbouring Outeniqua is a slightly easier course, but with plenty of water hazards to spice things up.

It’s not just the golfing that’s top class, but the accommodation too. Suitable for couples as much as families, the Fancourt has 115 rooms and suites, all elegantly styled with complimentary Wi-Fi. A pool and spa provide the areas in which to unwind, while the kids club means that parents keen to work on their swing can rest assured their kids are in good hands.

There are four options for dining, from the casual club lounge, which overlooks the 18th hole, to the sophisticated Henry Whites restaurant, where classic European fare is served daily.
