Ulusaba Rock Lodge

Tribal Indulgence, Impossibly Placed on the Cliff Face of a Commanding Hill

There’s no mistaking the name, this lodge and its ten rooms are all perched on a koppie (granite rock) ascending 700 feet from the lowveld and which all command incredible views over the plains of Ulusaba Reserve and the Drakensburg mountains beyond.

Quite grand when considering their seemingly impossible position, each room is styled to a traditional African tribe and with en-suite bathrooms via a spiral staircase. From this perched viewpoint, you can take in the panoramic vistas over the miles of bush and the Drakensberg Mountain range in the far distance.

The main lodge easily has the best bar and open-sided lounge at Ulusaba with never-better sundowner views over a freshly made mojito. Guests can also savour a traditional meal on the wooden balcony, under the thick canopy of African stars.

The lodge hosts a range of activities for children while the adults can enjoy optional massages on the open-air deck, lounge by the swimming pool, visit the gym or even enjoy a game of tennis.
