Camp Moremi

Sable Alley sits on the banks of a lagoon that’s connected to the winding River Khwai, a short way from world-famous Moremi Game Reserve but within its own vast private concession in which game is abundant.

The camp itself has 12 luxury safari tents elevated on decks to give you a view of the lagoon, each with en suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and a veranda. You can watch passing herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo coming to drink from the camp’s swimming pool, lounge and bar.

The surrounding 200,000 hectare Khwai Private Wildlife Reserve is a community based joint venture partnership and ensures economic stability for its people – Khwai villagers make up the majority of the staff – and it adheres to environmentally sensitive practices. Red lechwe, waterbuck and reedbuck, along with many antelope species are full time residents, whilst sightings of lion, leopard, sable spotted hyena and African wild dog are excellent and elephant abound in this fantastically diverse patchwork of wetlands, floodplain, islands and woodland. Rhino can also be spotted here. Being within a private reserve means that you can explore on walking safaris and night excursions as well as traditional game drives and canoe trips.

You can also spend a night under the stars in one of the Skybeds deep within the Khwai Private Reserve. Atop a three-storey platform gently illuminated by lanterns, your bedroom overlooks a water hole that draws wildlife big and small from all around making for a truly unforgettable experience in the African bush.

Overlooking the vast and lively floodplains of the Moremi Game Reserve, this exclusive lodge is composed of 15 luxury tents seated on raised wooden platforms with traditional African thatch roof.

Private decks with easy chairs and hammocks provide panoramic views and rooms are equipped with opulent, four-poster beds. Inside the main area you’ll find a comfortable lounge stocked with chess sets, a TV with a library of wildlife videos, comfy couches, a fireplace and a bar. There’s also a 20 meter pool, a stylish dining area with wooden tables, a small reference library and a curio shop.

A raised observation deck houses a small telescope for relaxed game viewing from the comfort of the lodge across the river where hippos often congregate and other species such as lion and antelope come to drink.

Alongside the Maunachira River which flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world renowned Moremi Game Reserve, Okuti Camp sits right in the middle of one of Botswana’s prime game viewing regions.

Okuti comprises of five twin-bedded mosasa (an ancient tribal word for house of reeds) on raised teak decks with river views, each with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers with hot and cold running water.

The honeymoon unit features a double bed, bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower. An additional two family units consist of two bedrooms which share spacious bathroom facilities – ideal for families in this child-friendly camp.

With water flowing in front of the camp, guests can also explore the Delta’s waterways by motorboat, its open lagoons and winding channels a real birder’s paradise.
