Argentina’s vivacious capital

Buenos Aires is a city in constant motion. Birthplace of the sultry Argentine tango, it boasts world-class food and wine, energetic nightlife and a thriving arts scene. All housed within an eclectic mix of architectural styles that includes European-influenced belle époque landmarks and the brightly coloured houses of La Boca.

Along the city’s tree-lined boulevards you’ll find historic coffee shops, stylish restaurants and bars, and an array of museums and galleries. It’s also home to more bookstores per capita than anywhere else in the world. One of our favourites is the stunning El Ateneo Grand Splendid, which is housed in a converted theatre.

We’ll design a bespoke Buenos Aires itinerary that takes you deeper into the city’s culture. You can go on a private street food tour to sample the best empanadas. Learn how to make mate, a caffeinated herbal tea. Be guided around the ornate marble mausoleums of the Recoleta Cemetery. And as evening falls, take in a show at the renowned Teatro Colón opera house (we can also arrange a tour) or learn to tango at a traditional milonga dance hall.

You can combine your trip to Buenos Aires with time in other parts of Argentina or South America. Contact our expert travel designers today to start planning your luxury tour to Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires is my favourite Latin America capital. It’s got style and charm – and it’s the birthplace of Tango! Explore on foot and you’ll feel like a Porteno as you uncover the real life of the city.

When to visit Buenos Aires

The best time to visit Buenos Aires is in the spring (September to November) or autumn (March to May). During these seasons, the weather is pleasantly mild or warm and the city isn’t too crowded. That makes them perfect for exploring Buenos Aires’ history, architecture and street food on a walking tour. And in November, the jacaranda trees bloom into a sea of vibrant purple.

In summer (December to February), Buenos Aires is hot, humid and busy. Conversely, winter (June to August) brings cool, dry weather and is a quiet time to visit the city.
