A cosmopolitan city with beautiful beaches and a thriving arts scene
Wrapped around a harbour on the eastern coast of Australia, Sydney is a picturesque city that’s at once lively and laidback. Staying here gives you the chance to visit renowned landmarks, find out about Aboriginal culture and explore areas of striking natural beauty.
The ocean is a central part of life in Sydney, and taking a cruise around the harbour is a great way to get a feel for the city. Or you can try your hand at a classic Aussie pastime with a private surfing lesson in the warm cerulean waters of Bondi Beach. And take a wander along the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee for stunning views of rock pools, craggy clifftops and curves of golden sand.
Indigenous communities have been residing in this region for at least 30,000 years. You can find out more about the world’s oldest living culture by taking a tour with a First Nations guide. They’ll tell you about Aboriginal creation stories and traditions while taking you to sites of spiritual and historic significance within The Rocks and Royal Botanic Garden. Many of the city’s excellent art galleries and museums also have exhibits showcasing modern artwork and traditional crafts from First Nations communities.
And then there’s Sydney’s culinary scene. You’ll find plenty to whet your appetite here, including private foodie walking tours with expert local guides, tastings at award-winning wineries, and fine dining at the Sydney Opera House after your private tour.
Sydney is the capital of New South Wales, a state known for its diverse landscapes. One of our favourite spots to visit on a day trip from Sydney is the Blue Mountains. Here you can hike through eucalyptus forests to admire the cascading Wentworth Falls or gaze out over the rugged sandstone peaks of the Three Sisters rock formation.

When to visit Sydney
The best time for a luxury tour to Sydney is in the spring (September–November) or autumn (March–May). During these seasons, the weather is warm and the humidity low – perfect for exploring the city or going walking in the Blue Mountains.
Higher temperatures make summer (December–February) an ideal time to hit the beach, although this is also the busiest season. Winters (June–August) are mild and mostly sunny, and the best time for whale watching.
