Laikipia Plateau, Kenya
Segera Retreat

A private Laikipia safari retreat combining wildlife, art and conservation
Sitting in the heart of a 50,000-acre conservancy with views of Mount Kenya, Segera Retreat offers an intimate and luxurious safari experience.
The property has ten villas – and plenty of artwork – scattered within its gardens. Four one-bedroom Garden Villas are set on stilts around the swimming pool, each with a private deck overlooking the savannah. Larger villas with two or four bedrooms offer more space for bigger groups. Many have private pools as well as cosy lounges and dining areas.
Whichever villa you stay in, you’ll have access to your own private safari vehicle. Once a cattle ranch, Segera has turned into a thriving wildlife area by opening migration corridors within its estate and focusing on conservation. Go on personalised game drives to look for the Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalo), as well as giraffes, cheetahs, zebras and other wildlife.
There are a number of dining venues at Segera Retreat. Enjoy freshly made pizza beside the pool, a candlelit dinner in the Stables, a picnic by the river, or a private meal in the Wine Tower. The emphasis is on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients throughout, including vegetables and herbs grown in the gardens.
In the communal Paddock House, you’ll find lounge areas, a cocktail bar, a library and a cinema room. The property also has a well-equipped gym, yoga and meditation classes, and a spa offering a range of rejuvenating treatments.
