Wildlife and natural wonders on a quintessential African adventure

Spanning multiple nations, including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda, East Africa is home to some of Africa’s most captivating wildlife. At Jacada, our specialists craft bespoke journeys across the region, recommending the best safari lodges and thrilling wildlife experiences for your luxury East Africa safari.

The golden savannahs of the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti stretch endlessly into the horizon. Millions of wildebeest and zebras migrate across these plains each year. Visit the southern Serengeti during calving season from January to March to witness the jaw dropping scale of new life – and the predators it attracts.

The wildlife and landscapes of East Africa vary dramatically. Elephants roam in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, enormous buffalo amble the nutrient-rich Ngorongoro Crater and flamingos brighten the shores of Lake Manyara.

Experiences are also diverse. Learn about rhino conservation in Solio Private Reserve, track big cats on a walking safari in the Laikipia Plateau and gain insights into ancient traditions when meeting with Maasai and Samburu communities.

In Rwanda, Uganda and the Congo you can trek deep into the jungle for a soul-stirring glimpse of a gorilla family. Follow experienced guides and trackers on these remarkable conservation focused primate adventures.

Whatever you envision for your safari tour in East Africa, get in touch with our team of Africa experts to begin planning your adventure today.

Growing up in the Maasai Mara was pure magic, and my childhood was spent spotting wildlife on game drives, or even right outside our window. The excitement of glimpsing the region’s incredible wildlife on safari never goes away, and I love nothing more than sharing that thrill with people when planning their dream trip to East Africa.

When to visit East Africa

The best time to visit East Africa is during one of the region’s two dry seasons, which run from June to October and December to February. The drier climate makes for better wildlife viewing opportunities as there is less greenery to shield the animals, who concentrate around the remaining water sources. Shoulder season travel during the short rainy season, from November to December, can still bring good wildlife spotting, and is especially good for birdwatching.

January to March is wildebeest calving season in Tanzania’s Serengeti, and makes a great time to travel if you want to witness the thousands of wildebeest born every day – and the ensuing interest from predators.

For gorilla trekking in Rwanda and Uganda, the dry season offers easier trekking conditions, although it’s still very possible to go during the rainy season.
